Turning Dreams into Reality: Baking, Learning, and Sustainability
In 2023, Lisa Basini turned her lifelong dream of owning her own storefront into reality by opening The Baking Coach in Bellport, NY. This dream wouldn't have been possible without the invaluable support of PSEG Long Island's rebate and baking space program for small businesses. Lisa takes us behind the scenes of her kitchen and baking space and how this program has made a significant impact on her journey.
Lisa shares, “Baking has always been more than just a hobby for me; it's a way of life. When I decided to open my storefront, I knew that energy consumption would be a significant consideration. From ovens to refrigerators and everything in between, a bakery requires a lot of energy to operate efficiently. That's where PSEG Long Island's rebate and baking space program came in. Their support in the form of rebates and bill credits has been instrumental in helping us manage our energy costs right from the start.”
The financial assistance provided by PSEG Long Island has not only allowed her to invest in energy-efficient equipment but has also enabled her to implement sustainable practices throughout our operations. “By reducing our energy consumption, we're not only saving on costs but also doing our part for the environment—a cause that's important for everyone.”
Her new facility has created a platform for me to connect with the community in a meaningful way. “At The Baking Coach, we don't just bake; we educate. It's incredibly fulfilling to see children and adults come into our store, eager to learn and discover their own talents. Through baking classes and workshops, we aim to inspire the next generation of bakers and show them that they too have gifts to share with the world.”
Lisa says she is so grateful for the opportunity to pursue her dream and especially for the support of programs like PSEG Long Island's rebate and baking space program. She’s looking forward to continuing to share her love of baking, learning, and sustainability with her students and the community.
