Greater Long Island Spotlight on Baking Coach and Founder Lisa Basini's Latest Win

Lisa Basini

On September 4th, 2024 greaterlongisland.com posted an article titled "From senior centers to brick and mortar, 'the Baking Coach' now calls Bellport home"An article written by reporter, Jose Martinez shares the story the journey of how the 'Baking Coach' got its start. Baking Coach founder Lisa Basini states "I woke up the next day and said to my husband, ‘Baking Coach,’ and he said, ‘What’s that?” Basini recalled. “I said that’s the name of my business.".

This story starts back when Basini was just 4 years old. Reminiscing about how even at a young age, she loved to bake. She shares that "It was just a way of expressing myself, it was something that was kind of built-in,” Now after opening in 2005, the Baking Coach has settled down in their new home. Right off the highway you can see (and maybe even smell!) the Baking Coach in Bellport, NY.

Reporter Jose Martinez also writes about the latest achievements from not only the Baking Coach but also from Basini. This past summer, we congratulated as Lisa not only graduated from the  Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses course for entrepreneurs at Babson College in Massachusetts. She became an official alumni where she spent time going in depth on the marketing and how to run a successful business.

Basini also shares about her latest win at the SCORE 60th Anniversary Small Business Pitch Competition. In this national competition "More than 2,200 small business owners applied for the contest, which carries a $20,000 top-prize payout from SCORE, an organization founded in 1964 to provide mentoring to budding entrepreneurs." Martinez writes. Basini hopes to use her first place grant money win, to help expand new products in her inclusive baking activity kit line.

Baking Coach's location is part of the Long Island Bellport Outlets, an outdoor retail mall that saw the decline of small businesses but is now on the rise thanks to small businesses opening up such as the Baking Coach.
