Prep Time: 1 hour
Servings: 16 Brownies
While technically the start of all isn’t until September 22nd, with the Fall Equinox, I like to start getting into the spirit right after Labor Day! What is the best activity to do in the fall? Only to go apple picking of course! So go have the best “fall day” at your local orchards and pick some apples (or buy some at the market!) and tune into this week’s Baking Coach recipe of Apple Brownies! Enjoy!
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED:
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- ½ cup of melted, unsalted butter (or canola oil)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 - 1 ½ teaspoons of ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon of baking powder
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 1 large apple
HERE IS HOW YOU DO IT:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- Grease an 8 x 8 square pan (or a 9 inch round pan) with cooking spray or canola oil
- In a large bowl combine together the sugar, melted butter and 1 large egg. Mix the ingredients together well.
- Add to your bowl the Flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Then, add in your ground cinnamon, you will need at least 1 teaspoon but increase the amount slowly based on personal preference. Put your mixing bowl aside
- Take your apple and slowly peel off the skin and de-core the apple. Dice your apple into cubes and add it to your mixing bowl mixture.
- Pour mixture into a pre-prepared pan and bake in the oven for 35 minutes (TIP: to see if the mixture is done, take a toothpick and insert it in the middle, if it comes out clean, your brownies are ready.)
- Let your brownies cool down completely inside the pan. Once cooled, cut into 2 inch squares, you should have about 16 brownies.
- Eat and Enjoy!
